In November of 2018, 145 children and over 60 adults gathered for the ninth annual Utah Day of Dance festivities in Provo, UT. The event cultivated creativity for a community of people ranging from ages one to 72. It was a full day workshop with dance classes in Bollywood, Congolese, Mexican Polka, Break Dance and European Folk. All ability levels were welcomed and encouraged. As part of the workshop, families created their own choreography to be performed at the end of the day. Sixth graders from Sunset View Elementary School were given the opportunity to choreograph and perform a dance based on their views and emotions of family. This piece was performed at the Utah Day of Dance.
In partnership with daCi, Dance and the Child International, the goal of the event was to connect communities and families through the joy of movement. Utah Day of Dance also supported 21 local dance artists to teach at the event. Students from across Utah county, Salt Lake county and Duchesne county attended the workshop.
