Rio Gallery Exhibit Challenges the Consumerism of Art

Two Utah artists use abstract paintings, found objects, and a multidimensional installation as vehicles to express their concerns about an increased emphasis on consumerism and audiences who see art as merely a luxury.

The exhibit postmodernposh, featuring Nolan Flynn and Mitchell Lee and presented by the Utah Division of Arts & Museums, opens July 13 and run through August 31 at the Rio Gallery. A reception will be held July 20 during Salt Lake Gallery Stroll from 6-9 p.m. The Rio Gallery is located at 300 S. Rio Grande St. and is free and open to the public Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.The Rio & Alice galleries were created as a service to Utah artists. They provide free venues for emerging and established artists to collaborate on exhibits and engage the community through art making and dialogue.
